SMEP - Small Medium Enterprises Promotion
The SMEP project (2007 – 2009) aims to improve the competitiveness of the denim cluster in Cipulir, South Jakarta. The target beneficiaries are 200 small enterprises.
Swisscontact Development Programme. It partners with the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Education, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Allianz Insurance, BDS TRIASA, Bina Nusantara University, International Garment Training Center (IGTC) and provincial government of Jakarta.
Project activities include :
- Facilitating in the development of a join vision for growth among actors in the clusters
- Improving producer’s capacity throught training, consultancy and market linkages
- Improving capacity of service providers including insurance companies, financial institutions, Universities and BDS Triasa
- Promoting cluster approaches to government or other agencies for replication in another area
Highlights in 2008:
- One producer cooperative is established, with 300 members
- 100 small enterprises get better access to finance and raw material
- 2 technical and management training provided for 50 enterprises
- On the job training and business services from univeristy students established with 10 students and 100 enterprises
- An information and communication training center and a cluster website established
