Swisscontact Indonesia organized a three day training program on value chain development from 20 to 22 of October 2008. All together, 25 staff members of Swisscontact, Mercy Corps and PUPUK Bandung participated in the training which was facilitated by GB Banjara, and Ujjwal Pokhrel freelance consultants on value chain development. In the training, participants were provided with concepts and skills on value chain mapping, analysis and upgrading strategies through presentations and case studies. Participants , in groups, worked on the Tofu, Tempe and denim VCs for Jakarta, Cocoa for Flores and rice value chain for Aceh province.
Swisscontact, together with the Economic Development and Financing Facility (EDFF) have launched a new program, called Peningkatan Ekonomi Kakao Aceh (PEKA). Addressing the development of the cocoa sub-sector in the Aceh province, this program will reach out into five selected districts and 12.500 cocoa farmers throughout the province.
